Ladies, what does "Putting God first in his life" mean to you?

It is somewhat common to see profiles that say they are looking for a man who "Puts God first in his life, even ahead our relationship". This is a good thing in my opinion, but to me this phrase is almost a cliché. I think the phrase "Putting God first in your life" can mean a lot of different things to different people. It could mean anything from simply refusing to conform to secular norms (i.e. getting drunk, sleeping around) to things such as attending church events at least twice a week or going on a missions trip every year.
Because of the non-specific meaning of this phrase, it casts doubt on whether or not the lady behind the profile would even be interested in me. The result is that I am less likely to contact her. None of us (men or women) are perfect, so what kinds of imperfection would she tolerate? My initial impression when I see the "puts God first in his life" phrase in a woman’s profile with no qualifications (no related information) is that she must be a perfect angel, and she is looking for a spiritually perfect man (which I know I am not). I know that this impression is kind of silly and/or absurd, but I’m just being honest about what I think.
So I would be curious to find out:
(1) What it is that ladies who use the "puts God first in his life" phrase are looking for in more specific, practical terms. (By "specific, practical terms", I mean attitudes, behaviors, beliefs, goals, etc.)
(2) What a more reasonable general impression of said ladies would be.
I think it describes a person who genuinely desires to make the Lord the One he/she pleases above others and possibly said person shows this in behavior such as a sincere prayer life, daily devotions, time spent with other believers and a willingness to grow in the ways of the Lord. This is by no means a complete or perfect answer. Others are welcome to add to or debate what I have written.
We all are humans, probably putting God first, is the fundamental belives of her search to find a good man on this site though.
Blessings. Lol :D
A very interesting question but really difficult to answer in a specific way. We all value different things in our christian walk and putting God first is not the same for two different people. Also the term put God first has become such a cliche it is difficult to know what people mean unless you ask them.
In the most general terms it probably means a man that is true to their own beliefs. Someone that just doesn't talk about being a Christian but actually lives the life of a Christian.
I say general because Christianity isn't about ticking all the right boxes, but it's more than what a person does or says.A set of behaviors doesn't necessarily make you a Christian though it can make you a moral person.
The Bible itself says " You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit." Matthew 7 16-19
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . . " (NKJV). Galatians 5 22-23
The best thing to do if you, find a profile you like is to just message and find out what that other person thinks. Profiles are just the beginning of who a person is and gives a basic impression.
We are all sinners saved by grace and being perfected by Jesus everyday.
In my opinion putting god first in your life.he will lead u in the right direction that u must go.
As I answer this question I feel like I should split it first.if the question was asked by a male hence quoted"ladies"or asked by female .well we are all believers of our lord Jesus Christ in this forum,so,the bible says that when Christ died he rose after 3days.what I want to emphasize is this he died and we died with him and we were buried with him.when he arose from the death we rose as well having victory, that means we live in him and we carry the life of christ in us ,All of US ,so we ought to put him first no matter which gender you are .whatever you do you it in him and through him and lastly we have been adopted to be his sons and heirs of his kingdom together with him.Remember my brethren, what he said to mary at the grave that morning when mary thought christ was a gardener?he told her go tell my disciples that i will go to my father and your father!meaning now it was OUR father so let every person put God first for thats how it should be seek first his kingdom and the rest will follow.Thank you.
