".... he said, It is finished, and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. "John 19:30 (ESV)
Imagine my surprise and utter delight when, the waitress told me that my lunch with friends had been already taken care of. Paid in full by total strangers. My heart melted with, gratitude for the perfect strangers who had graciously decided to bless me. Though I did not know these people, their gift has had a lasting impact on my life.It represents God's faithfulness in my life, it's a testament of God's ability to meet my needs in surprising ways,in astonishing places. To this day, it still makes me smile.
One Friday afternoon long ago,on a cross Jesus uttered the words 'tetelestai' meaning 'it is finished'. It was not apparent in that moment what a glorious gift God was bestowing on his children. Some might have wondered what exactly was 'finished' and what exactly Jesus was talking about. Some might have even dismissed this declaration as the cries of a dying failed, wannabe King. Even the disciples who had spend time with Jesus, were confused, sad and dejected.
Yet when the stone was rolled away from his grave on that Sunday morning,it was apparent that something truely phenomenal had occurred that Friday past. From the beginning God had a plan to buy us back,to pay the full price for us (Gen 3:15),to redeem us and call us his own.
The cross is a symbol of that promise fulfilled .It shows the incredible depths that Jesus went through,so you could find your way home.As you look upon the cross,be reminded that your "debt was paid in full" ,that Jesus finished it all for you.
All your past sins, all your present sins, all your future sins were paid for in full by Christ on the cross. When you come to the cross, your bill has been taken care of by Christ. Isn't that the greatest gift ever!

What a wonderful gift. I will forever cherish the cross of Jesus. I wonder what the fate of the human race would have been if Jesus didn't die for our sins. Christianity would have been in vain.
I am nothing without Jesus

That is so true FAITH257,we live in an increasingly secular world.Sometimes it's hard to remember what the death of Jesus really accomplished.Jesus has to compete with easter eggs, the easter bunny , hot cross buns & pickled fish (SA Easter tradition :) lol )salvation becomes a news byline. But it's great to know God's gift are not irrevocable.
God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. It's not the result of anything you've done, so no one can brag about it.
